Acharya Balkrishna, MD of Patanjali tweeted earlier today,"we inform you that trials, review and upgradation is in process to to make Kimbho most safe to users, convenient and secure to its user.We will announce new date of official launch gor Kimbo."
Patanjali’s ambitious plans to launch a ‘Made in India’ chat app to counter WhatsApp had earlier hit a roadblock when cybersecurity experts called the app security disaster.
Kimbho was first launched on May 30 and was taken down within 24 hours because of security reasons.
Meanwhile, Aditi Kamal, the founder of Bolo chat app (which was being rebranded into Kimbho app) has quit Patanjali. Kamal is set to focus on relaunching Bolo Messenger separately and will ultimately compete with Kimbho when it gets launched and give a great traffic.
Interestingly, when Kimbho was launched in May for a day, people with basic programming knowledge took to Twitter to highlight that the app was a mere copy of the Bolo app that was launched years back with a custome design.
Explaining name the “Kimbho”, Patanjali spokesperson SK Tijarawala had earlier tweeted in Hindi, “Kimbho in Sanskrit means What’s going on and what’s the news on the web.” The Kimbho chat app is claimed to be AES encrypted and supports ghost chatting and auto-deletion of messages.
As far as file support is concerned, the Kimbho platform supports videos, photos, doodle, stickers, GIF among others. It can be seen as a complete WhatsApp competitor with location support as well. The app also support video chatting and interesting users can also draw doodles to share with their friends.
